 Breaker’s Bay and Juha’s Dhow & Lagoon

After three weeks of continuous work, Breaker’s Bay (Wave Pool) has  a new look that resembles the ocean. Juha’s Dhow & Lagoon was repainted, polished and given a few upgrades to ensure nonstop fun for the little ones.    Aside from painting, we also replaced the teakwood platforms and teakwood dumping bucket with a more environmentally friendly material, fiberglass.  This ride was the first major new installation for Wild Wadi and was opened in January 2006.  This is the first major renovation for this attraction.

New Slides – ‘Tantrum Alley’ and ‘Behemoth Bowl’

Summitt Surge and Rushdown Ravine (affectionately known as “The Family Ride” with the big yellow tube) is currently closed in preparation for two exciting new rides − ‘Tantrum Alley’ and ‘Behemoth Bowl’ – to Wild Wadi by the end of 2010.

‘Tantrum Alley’ is a ride that incorporates two large sections of downhill waterslides and two exciting tornadoes. Guests seated on a four-person tube will travel downhill to enter the first tornado where they slide back and forth several times, then circle around and around in the eye of the storm before exiting and hitting the second and third tornadoes, after which they splash out into the exit pool.

The equally adventurous ‘Behemoth Bowl’ consists of two large sections of downhill waterslides and the looming ‘Bowls’. Guests are seated on a four-person tube, travelling downhill to the bowls, where they are hurtled into a spiralling spin and then dropped into the slide, ending with a screaming splash in the exit pool.

Directional Signage

Do you often get lost in the park? With the park’s Arabian theme that sometimes leaves our guests mystified, we feel that we need to improve our directional signage. This year we will be changing a lot of signage to have a more exciting look − less confusing, clearer and informative. Our first set of large directional signs to be installed will be up by April 2010 and will direct you to the “Start of Slides” and also to Jumeirah Sceirah.  These are the 2 areas that seem to cause the most confusion to our guests.  I am confident that the signs we are putting in will help everyone get to the rides faster so that you can spend more time riding, and less time walking around looking for the rides.  Stay tuned and we will keep you posted.

Locker Room

The locker rooms have recently been renovated to upgrade the facilities that have been in place for the last 10 years.  Our showers, sinks and toilets have all undergone major refurbishments.  Our toilets and sinks now have automated timing systems to help us conserve water.  Our showers have all been upgraded with energy efficient shower heads, and each shower is now fully tiled in Mediterranean blue.  Our men’s urinals and 1 sink in the men’s and women’s changing rooms have been lowered to accommodate our “smaller” guests.

We will continue to be improving the facilities in our changing rooms throughout the year (better signage, new ceiling, better ambience).
